Youth leadership workshop at ESCEG


On February 4th, from 10:00 to 13:00, the 1st Youth Leadership Workshop was held at ESCEG with the participation of 38 heads of student groups belonging to primary, secondary, art and special education schools together with the Secretary of the Union of Young Communists (UJC), the Deputy Director General of Education, Director of Education Pioneers, the Director of the Pioneers Palace and their Base Guides from the Marianao municipality. Students from the 9th edition of the specialties in Public Administration and Business Management also participated in the Workshop, together with teachers and directors of the institution, with more than 90 participants. The workshop was developed through a panel made up of the Rector, Vice-Rectors and the head of the IT department who addressed the topics related to: the 13 management skills explained through the active participation of the students who presented the concepts and examples in their areas of action, communication for the development of leadership through motivating students about their practices and meaning, economics through role-playing games and educational videos, as well as artificial intelligence with its benefits and risks, exchange with students, the use of the smart screen, applications in which students exchanged orally with an Artificial Intelligence platform and educational videos.
Finally, a survey was applied to evaluate the activity, in which the students expressed their positive evaluations of learning, identifying assimilated skills and the students of the postgraduate specialties recognized the high preparation, wisdom and knowledge of the children. The survey asked students to name 3 management skills that they appreciated in their school leaders, 3 management skills that they would like to explore in more depth, define a skill in their own words, and assess whether the activity generated learning and utility for them. It was a preparatory activity with a very high emotional charge and very useful, as expressed also by the young students themselves and all the participants. The Secretary of the UJC of Marianao called for a similar activity with UJC managers at the municipal level, which we will carry out on April 4. The Education Directorate of the Marianao municipality also asked us to carry out a similar activity with school directors, with the theme of the skills and teaching methods developed by the motivation and learning that the activity generated in the students.
