Training on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era

From December 2 to 15, 2024, the Higher School of State and Government Cadres (ESCEG) will host the “Training on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era”, taught by the National Academy of Governance of China and organized jointly with our institution. It was sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba, together with the Embassies of the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Cuba. The opening ceremony was attended by His Excellency Mr. Hua Xin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China in Cuba, and Mr. Zhou Quan, Counselor of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, as well as Cuban executives, such as Miguel Mario Cabrera Castellanos, Head of the Directorate of State and Government Officers of Cuba, the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of the Republic of Cuba, Déborah Rivas Saavedra, Mercedes Hilda González Guilarte, First Vice Chief of the National Office of Statistics and Information, and Mercedes Delgado Fernández, Rector of ESCEG.
75 participants from more than 35 different bodies, organizations, business groups, companies and institutions participated in the training, including senior State and Government officers, executives, professors and officials. This composition of the group favored the teaching-learning process which, together with the political, economic, social, historical, cultural and technological dimensions addressed in the course, contribute to a better understanding, assimilation and socialization of the contents and good practices in the construction of socialism.
The seminar program stood out for its depth and comprehensiveness, the quality and excellence of the faculty made up of 11 professors from the Central Party School (National Academy of Governance) with vast academic and practical experience who will present a different topic each day, from Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Peculiarities in the New Era, Reform and Opening, Chinese-style Modernization, the Culture of Socialism, Social Governance, the Socialist Market Economy System, the State System and the National Governance System, the Construction of a Socialist Rule of Law, the National Security Strategy, the Fight against Poverty and the Self-revolution of the Communist Party of China.
The preparation was complemented by exchanges with the professors, as the Program progressed and the implementation of a visit to Cuba to see good practices of the BioCubaFarma business group and the Office of the Historian of Havana with the participation of the management of the municipal government of Old Havana.

In the final conclusions of the seminar, the Rector of the Higher School of State and Government Officers, highlighted that the course featured an integral approach, the high level of mastery of the lecturers, ethics, sensitivity, respect, camaraderie, the professionalism of the organizers and interpreters, as well as the discipline of the students, their comments, questions and the quality and coherence of the designed program.
Through the fruitful and consolidated collaboration between ESCEG and the Academy of Governance of China, 32 training actions have been developed jointly since 2011 when they signed the first Memorandum of Understanding, with more than 1,270 graduates.
