Inauguration of the Superior School of State and Government Cadres

The training of cadres with quality, relevance and scientific rigor constitutes a strategic, necessary, urgent and decisive activity to efficiently face the processes of implementation and development of the Guidelines of the Sixth Party Congress in the different Cuban entities.

Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez, member of the Political Bureau and Minister of Higher Education, highlighted the inauguration of the Superior School of State and Government Cadres in the capital, in a ceremony presided over by the Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party José Ramón Machado Ventura , First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers; Abelardo Álvarez Gil, head of the Policy Department of the Central Committee and Jorge L. Guerrero Almaguer, head of the Commission of State and Government Cadres, who presented the foundations of the creation of this system of schools.

This Monday was also officially launched the first edition of the two diploma courses that open this center: one in Public Administration and the other in Business Management and Management, designed to prepare our main cadres during eight weeks of full-time classes. The teaching will be in charge of around 70 professors from the University of Havana, the Higher Polytechnic Institute José Antonio Echeverría (CUJAE) and specialists from the different organizations that participate.

With an initial enrollment of 151 students, the center has branched schools in ten main centers of the capital, said Gerardo Montenegro, director of training for MES cadres. As of January, it is expected that these courses will be extended to the MES universities throughout the country, he added.

The nascent school aims to perfect the methods and techniques of management of their students, to train them in an economic culture of respect for the current legality and in the appropriate use of information technology and communications, as well as to strengthen their authority and leadership.

Mercedes Delgado, deputy director of the institution, also noted that from the preparation received at the center, these students are responsible for methodologically advising the rest of the cadres of their entities. The Cuban Higher Education is conscious, willing and committed to take on these challenges and ensure the constant improvement of the cadres and their reserves, he assured.
