The ESCEG educators faithful to the legacy of Martí and Fidel
Today is a special day for all educators, a day full of emotions for all that they have contributed and contribute to the training of children, adolescents and Youth. On a day like today we cannot stop thinking about Fidel and Martí, their ideas about the teacher and their extraordinary vision to eliminate illiteracy in our country, a goal achieved since 1961. José Martí described teaching as a work of infinity love and summarized the role of the teacher by cataloging it as the living letter. He also pointed out that the happiest people are those that have better educated their children in the instruction of thought and in the direction of their feelings.
He precisely went so far as to affirm that education does not bear fruit if it is not continuous and constant. Martí considered education as a tree and in this regard he assured that a seed is sown and opened in many branches. Fidel's teachings were always present in the educational development of the country, which had its initial moment in the Literacy Campaign. Natural and Marti by conviction, Fidel is the manager of an educational project that transcends revolutionary Cuba to settle in latitudes unthinkable by any Cuban when he called for the definitive banishment of ignorance, ignorance and illiteracy.
Referring to the educators, Fidel said:
“The educator must be an activist of the revolutionary politics of our Party, a defender of our ideology, of our morals, of our political convictions. It must, therefore, be an example of a revolutionary, starting with the requirement of being a good teacher, a disciplined worker, a professional with a spirit of improvement, a tireless fighter against all that is badly done and a standard-bearer of demands. (…) In school, in the place of residence, in social activities, the teacher has to be an exemplary citizen that everyone respects and admires ".
