On June 30, 2026, a pre-defense of the doctoral thesis in Technical Sciences was held for the "Organizational Management" doctoral program at the Higher School of State and Government, within the research area of "Organizational and Business Management." The doctoral candidate, Amarilis Casalis Viamontes, Business Director of the Center for Research and Development of Medicines (CIDEM), pre-defended her thesis entitled "Management Methodology for the Portfolio of Research and Development Projects for Medicines for Integration into the Eurasian Economic Union," supervised by Dr. Mercedes Delgado Fernández and Dr. Idania Caballero Torres. The examining committee consisted of Dr. Gabriel Montesino Figueroa, Dr. Lydia María Garrigó Andreu, and Dr. Iván Alejandro Pérez Iñiguez, and the opposing examiners were Dr. Alejandro Saúl Padrón Yaquis and Dr. Ana Gloria Navarro Pentón. The presentation highlighted the scientific novelty of the research, which lies in the design and implementation of an integrated methodology for project portfolio management. This methodology is based on chemical synthesis, the continuous improvement cycle, strategic foresight, innovation criteria, regulatory requirements, and international cooperation. It facilitates the negotiation of innovative projects and the creation of effective strategic alliances for the integration of CIDEM projects into the UEEA (European Union of Biopharmaceutical Companies). Among the most relevant results are the strengthening of international alliances, the integration of innovative projects protected by patents in the Russian Federation, and negotiations for the creation of a binational laboratory in the Republic of Belarus, intended for the joint development of new projects. These achievements consolidate regional cooperation and enhance the strategic capacity of the national biopharmaceutical industry. The event concluded with a positive assessment of the proposed changes to the doctoral defense, with a deadline of up to 90 days.
