With great pride, on July 10, 2026, two professors from the Higher School of State and Government Cadres, Dr. Mercedes Delgado Fernández and Dr. Lydia María Garrigó Andreu, received the 2025 National Prize from the Cuban Academy of Sciences for their work entitled "Methodology for Innovation Management and Strategic Foresight." This methodology, applied at the Higher School of State and Government Cadres, which celebrated its 15th anniversary in October 2026, is designed for use by public and private sector managers in their training. It has been supported by over 300 innovation projects—organizational, process, product, and service-related—delivered over the past three years to address the needs, opportunities, and risks faced by Cuban public and private sector management. The methodology integrates relevant tools and has the legal backing it possesses, as it is aligned with government policies.

It was also an extraordinary honor and a great responsibility for ESCEG that its Rector expressed the words of gratitude on behalf of the 2025 recipients of the Cuban Academy of Sciences Award. A total of 104 research projects received awards: 8 in the areas of Agricultural and Fisheries Sciences, 7 in Technical Sciences, 15 in Natural and Exact Sciences, 40 in Biomedical Sciences, and 33 in Social Sciences and Humanities. Mercedes Delgado Fernández extended her congratulations and recognition to all the award recipients, acknowledging their dedication and commitment, the collaboration and effort of numerous work teams, the alignment of their research and results with the priorities of the country's economic and social development, and their conviction and commitment to our Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz on his centenary, to being a nation of men and women of science and thought. He alluded to the fact that Cuba's academics and scientists will rise to the occasion, as they have throughout our revolutionary process. He also mentioned that academics will contribute to the country's 176 economic and social transformations with intelligence, unwavering resolve, ideological firmness, responsibility, unity, courage, and boldness, as called for by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
