The ESCEG participates in the online seminar “One Strip and One Route Initiative: opportunities in Cuba-China collaboration"




Covered in the Memorandum of Cooperation, signed on November 18, 2019, between the Higher School of State and Government Cadres (ESCEG) and the Shandong Academy of Governance, the online seminar was held on July 12, 2022 " One Belt and One Road Initiative: Opportunities in Cuba-China Collaboration”. Since the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation, both parties have developed 4 virtual exchanges, on relevant topics for the preparation of cadres of the Cuban public administration and business system. The first of the exchanges took place in September 2020, on the occasion of the that experts and academics from the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Cuba were convened to promote the country's inclusion in the Initiative of the Economic Belt of the Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road of the 21st Century, which promoted by the sister People's Republic of China. The second virtual meeting, held in January 2021, aimed to exchange experiences on the cadres preparation system and the different organizational forms of improvement, developed by both institutions, to prepare the cadres of the communist parties of both countries in the implementation of important national policies, which promote development and well-being The third exchange, held in 2021, addressed the issue of the policies that both the People's Republic of China and Cuba have implemented for the development of foreign investment projects. The online seminar "One Strip and One Route Initiative: Opportunities in Cuba-China collaboration”, is the fourth virtual exchange developed by both institutions and continues the first of the exchanges that, on the same topic, took place in September 2020. The opening words of the virtual exchange were given, on the Cuban side, by Dr.C. Mercedes Delgado Fernández, Rector of the ESCEG, and by the Chinese counterpart institution, by Mr. Xu Wen, President of the Academy.
Participating as speakers for Cuba, Dr.C. Mercedes Delgado Fernández, the M. Sc. Zulaine Guerra Montané, Business Development Manager of the Biotechnological and Pharmaceutical Industries Group (BioCubaFarma) and the M. Sc. Rafael Luis Torralbas Ezpeleta, President of the Scientific and Technological Park of Havana. At the meeting, projects of mutual interest were identified to promote collaboration in the Belt and Road initiative.
Also present on behalf of the ESCEG were the vice-chancellors Dr. C. Ana Gloria Navarro Pentón and Dr. C. Bárbara Susana Sánchez Vignau, the Head of the IT Department, Dr.C. José Miguel Valdés Portal, the Head of the Center for the Study of Public and Business Administration, Dr. C. Martín Irián Barrios Rivera, the Secretary General, Dr. C. Marlenys Martínez Clapé and the Specialist in Computer Sciences, Engineer Michelle Pérez Acosta.
In addition to leading officials and scholars from the Shandong Academy of Governance, the exchange was attended by representatives from the Shandong Provincial Development and Reform Commission, the Shandong Government and Shandong Lukang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.
Collaborative relations between the ESCEG and the Chinese counterpart institution continue to strengthen.
